Emerson's Sailboat
For Nietzsche, you could see the same sailboat ten times and it would not be the same sailboat. In fact, you could be swimming in the water and that sailboat could run you right over and a moment later, turning around to run you over again, it would be a new sailboat. Every moment for Nietzsche must be lived as entirely new if one is to truly experience their experience. No one knows if the engineers who designed the machine had read Nietzsche.
